Kenmore 75050 (5,000 Btu) Air Conditioner

When it comes to the home, there are few appliances that are liable to be quite as important as a solid air conditioner, especially if you live in a very hot climate like I do. The house can be a miserable place without an air conditioner that is effective at doing the job of cooling your home down and apartments or other rental properties tend to be exceptionally difficult to cool as those units are rarely well stocked with the best air conditioners. The Kenmore 75050 is a great solution to this problem because it is not only low in price, but it performs to very high standards which makes it perfect as a bedroom air conditioner. This unit will cool a small room down quickly and efficiently so you aren’t going to have to spend a lot on your power bill which is extremely nice. It’s not Energy Star compliant, so to those concerned with that, this could be a draw back but most of us just need an air conditioning unit we can afford and if that fits your needs, you can’t beat the 75050 for value.

I feel comfortable recommending this unit for cooling small apartments, but it really isn’t what you would choose for a larger home. For a child’s room this could be great, especially in a room that receives a lot of direct sunlight as those rooms are often difficult to cool down. It’s very quiet so that is also a major plus since noise from air conditioners is a common issue that they have. You’ll pay less that $100 for this unit, on average.

Hoover SteamVac with Clean Surge F5914-900

There are few things more handy to have around the house, especially if you have little ones or even teens around, that a working and efficient steam cleaner. The problem is, many of these units do not really work as advertised and the ones that do generally cost a small fortune. Happily, I was able to find a solution in the F5914-900 SteamVac from Hoover. This is one steam cleaner that actually beats the rentals so that means it pays off its $150 investment rather quickly, especially if you rent and move from time to time. One of the more annoying traits with carpet cleaners is that they will often leave the carpet soaked which is bad news if you are trying to avoid attracting more dirt and further stains. Not so with the SteamVac, it leaves the carpet much more dry and if you’d like even faster drying then a fan will usually do the trick in the winter months. The extra blast of cleaning solution for super stubborn stains is a great feature that you may not need to make use of on a regular basis, but you will be very glad you have it if you ever find out that you do need it.

Having used a lot of other steam cleaners at friend’s homes or helping with work at church, I can definitely say this is one of the easiest to use and most effective machines I’ve ever encountered. It gets the job done fast and it does it in such a way that you don’t have to clean multiple times to get the results you want.
