Wusthof Classic Knife Set

March 18th, 2010 Posted in Cutlery

Having a great knife set around the kitchen is an absolute must and there are precious few sets that can compare with what the Wusthof Classic can offer those of us who make a great deal of our food at home. For one thing, the key point for any knife, no matter what other features it might be able to offer, is balance. The right balance in a kitchen knife is going to take the majority of the work that you have to put in by hand and transfer it to the knife, letting the blade do the work instead of your personal level of force. These are high carbon steel knives which means they are very, very durable and are not going to stain easily at all – if ever. You will definitely want to test out the grips offered first, though, because you will want to know which works best for your hands. Opinions on this are going to vary, but I’ve found Wusthof does a very good job at designing handles that let you work without discomfort for a fair period of time. There’s a reason that the magazines Choice and Fine Cooking both selected this as the top knife set, it is undeniably the best all purpose set of cooking knives on the market right now. For only $150 you really will not find another knife set that is this high in quality without going for outright chef material that is far more expensive and not needed for most cooks.
